Speed Trailer Program - What Can I Do About Speeders?
  Last updated 2/24/2008

Most of you have probably seen the Police Department's speed trailer and pole mounted speed tracking devices around town. We also have stationary radar in two patrol units and a portable laser and radar unit. These tools are utilized to target problem speeding areas in the City.

The speed limit in our residential areas is 25 miles per hour. This is important for the safety of our citizens, especially our children. Fines and court costs are expensive reminders to slow down.

When you see the speed trailer or devices on poles around St. Bernard, hopefully, you will take an opportunity to evaluate your own speed and check the accuracy of your car's speedometer.

To request the trailer in your area, call the station and make a request and ask for an officer to stop by to discuss the problems you are noticing and the logistics for placement of the trailer and/or patrol units.

Please remember we only have one speed trailer and to date, it has been very popular.  Subsequently, you may have to wait a few days, as we will take the requests in the order they are received.  Let's keep our children safe!
