Twelve Point Suspension  Section 4507.021 O.R.C.

Cause:
An accumulation of not less than 12 points on your driving record within a two year period.

Length of Suspension:
Six months effective the 20th day after mailing of the notice.

If the driver has been suspended pursuant to section 4507.16 of the O.R.C. and this offense is used as a part of the 12 point suspension, that period of suspension shall be credited against the length of the 12 point suspension.

Appeal Procedures:
If cause can be shown why driving privileges should not be suspended, an appeal may be filed in the county or municipal court in the jurisdiction in which the driver resides, agreeing to pay the cost of the proceedings. Appeal should be filed before the beginning date of the suspension.

If the driver is under the age of 18, the appeal must be filed in the juvenile court in the jurisdiction in which the driver resides.

Reinstatement Requirements: Section 4507.022 O.R.C.
You must successfully complete a remedial driving course given by an accredited remedial school. NOTE: This course can NOT be taken before the mailing date on the 12-point suspension notice.

You must file FRA (Financial Responsibility Act) Proof (SR 22 or Bond).

 BMV Form No. 2836 will be the your authorization to retake a complete a drivers license examination.

Additionally, a $30.00 reinstatement fee will be required if the suspension notice was mailed on or after 10/01/97.

6 points   No Drivers License or Driving Under Suspension
6 points   Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle
6 points   Aggravated or Vehicular Homicide
6 points   DUI/OVI or Any Violation of 4511.19
6 points   Hit Skip
6 points   Fleeing & Eluding
6 points   Any Traffic Crime Which is a Felony
6 points   Drag Racing

4 points   Reckless Driving

2 points   Operating a Vehicle in Violation of a Restriction
2 points   Speeding - 1st offense within 1 year
2 points   All Moving Violations Except "No Seat Belt"
2 Additional points  Speeding (3rd Offense/5 miles Over the Limit)

1 Additional point   Speeding  (2nd Offense/5 Miles Over the Limit)
